Funding news: What's working for young people's mental health
The Prudence Trust is the focus of this month's funding opportunities on offer to charities and NGOs. It is making £1 million in funding available to improve the services of registered charities and CICs offering mental health support to young people aged 11-25 across the UK.
The aim of this funding is to support charities to better understand how their service works and how it can be improved.
Who can apply
This opportunity is for organisations who support young people in the UK with their mental health at prevention and early intervention stages. The Prudence Trust will only consider applications from organisations who meet these three criteria:
- UK registered charities or CICs with an annual income of £250,000 or over.
- The charity or CIC must work mostly with young people aged 11-25 and have a clear focus on their mental health as a primary outcome of their support.
- Where the proposal is linked to a particular service, that service must already be running for at least two years and must have secured sufficient funding to ensure the programme runs for the duration of the proposed evaluation.
What you can apply for
Some examples of what the funding could cover include:
- Consultancy support for work such as strategy review, theory of change, creation of an evaluation and change plan
- Upskilling of staff responsible for monitoring and evaluation
- Costs to work with an external evaluator or academic on specific programmes
- Staff or consultant time to review evidence of similar services
This opportunity won’t award funds for:
- The costs of service delivery
- Retrospective funding (we can only fund costs incurred after June 2024)
Budget and grant amounts
The Prudence Trust's total grants budget for this opportunity is £1m. They expect to award 5-8 grants, of various sizes, from this total.
